Say You Won't Let Go

James Arthur, the Middlesbrough singer who won The X Factor in 2012 and then lost his record deal, rebuilt his career with Say You Won't Let Go in 2016. It is the lead single from his second album Back from the Edge and it spent three weeks at number one in the UK. The lyric follows a couple from a drunken first night through children, grey hair and the end of life, and couples choose it because it maps out exactly the future they are promising each other. The pace is slow and steady. Arthur shares the writing credit with a team that includes Steve Solomon and Neil Ormandy.
