Tenerife SeaEd Sheeran

Tenerife Sea sits on Ed Sheeran's 2014 album Multiply and was never released as a single, yet a 2015 Spotify study of 400,000 wedding playlists found it was the fifth most popular first dance song. Sheeran wrote it with Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol and the Northern Irish songwriter Foy Vance, and the lyric describes watching a partner across a crowded room and realising the rest of the world has gone quiet. Couples choose it for that image and for the hushed arrangement, which rarely rises above a whisper. The tempo is slow and the song gives a couple just over four minutes before anyone else is invited onto the floor.
