Latch (Acoustic)

Sam Smith first sang Latch in 2012 as the guest vocalist on a club record by the Surrey duo Disclosure, and the song launched both careers. In October 2013 Smith released an acoustic version on the Nirvana EP, stripping the production away and leaving only voice and guitar. Couples choose this version because the lyric about holding on to someone and never letting go, which sounds urgent on a dancefloor, turns tender and vulnerable at a slower pace. The tempo is unhurried and the song is short enough for a couple who want to keep their dance brief. The original club version reached number 11 in the UK.
