Coming Home

Leon Bridges released Coming Home in 2015 as the title track of his debut album, recorded on vintage equipment in Fort Worth with members of the band White Denim. The lyric is a tender promise to return to the one person who feels like home, and the slow burning soul arrangement, with its gospel backing vocals and brushed drums, suits a dance that sways rather than spins. Couples choose it because it sounds like a record from the Sam Cooke era without being one, so it feels both familiar and personal. Bridges had posted two demos online in late 2014, Columbia signed him that December, and the single became one of Spotify's most viral tracks within weeks of release.
