More Than a Woman

The Bee Gees wrote More Than a Woman for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in 1977, in the same weekend at the Château d'Hérouville in France that produced Stayin' Alive and How Deep Is Your Love. It is the disco record for couples who want the sway of a slow dance with the pulse of the dance floor underneath, and the lyric is a straight declaration that this person is everything. Barry Gibb's falsetto makes it feel like a secret even in a crowded room. The Bee Gees' version was never a UK single; Tavares took the song into the top ten, and both recordings appear in the film, the Bee Gees' version playing as Tony and Stephanie dance.
