Halev Sheli

Halev Sheli means My Heart, and since its release as a single in January 2019 it has become a much loved Hebrew song at Jewish weddings, whether sung by a band or played from the record. Ishay Ribo wrote and composed it for his fourth album Elul 5779, and the Israeli news site Kikar HaShabbat named it song of the year. The verses describe a broken heart being carried and healed, while the chorus lifts enough for a gentle sway. The second verse hides a riddle by the medieval scholar Abraham ibn Ezra about the parting of the Red Sea, which Ribo kept in his notes for a long time before the right melody came.
