Don't Delete the KissesWolf Alice

Wolf Alice are a north London band whose second album Visions of a Life won the Mercury Prize in 2018, and Don't Delete the Kisses is its soft centre. Ellie Rowsell half speaks the verses, describing the awkward early stage of liking someone and overthinking every text, before the chorus gives way to the rush of falling for them. Couples who met in the last decade pick it because it sounds like how they actually got together, phones and all, and the synth pulse moves at a gentle dance pace. Rowsell has said she set out to write a love song that held nothing back, and turned an early sad draft happy because a failed romance felt too bleak.
