Only Love

Ben Howard, the Devon songwriter whose debut Every Kingdom was released in 2011, included Only Love as one of its singles the following year, and it reached number nine in Britain. The lyric treats love as the only thing worth keeping, and Howard's percussive guitar gives the song a gentle forward pull that suits a swaying dance rather than a slow one. Couples choose it because it feels unhurried and sincere. Every Kingdom was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2012, and the following February Howard won two BRIT Awards, for British male solo artist and British breakthrough act.
