I Get to Love You

Ruelle is the stage name of Maggie Eckford, a Nashville based singer and songwriter from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, whose cinematic songs are far better known from television than from radio; her track This Is the Hunt was the theme for Shadowhunters, yet few viewers could put a face to her name. I Get to Love You arrived as a standalone single in 2016, the same year as her Madness EP. The verses are hushed and patient, the chorus swells on strings and stacked vocals, and the title line reframes a wedding vow as a daily privilege rather than a duty. It reached number 35 on the Official Singles Sales and Downloads charts in January 2022, never the main UK chart.
