Michael Bublé, 2005
Michael Bublé released Home in 2005 on his album It's Time, and it became his first UK top 40 hit. He wrote it with Alan Chang and Amy Foster Gillies while touring Italy and missing his then fiancée, and the lyric is about the pull of one particular person at the end of a long journey. Couples choose it because the message suits anyone who has spent time apart, and the slow, swelling arrangement gives a short dance a clear beginning and end. Blake Shelton's country cover reached number one on the American country chart in 2008, and the two men later sang it together, with the words reworked for Christmas, on Bublé's 2012 television special.
