Bo'eeThe Idan Raichel Project

Bo'ee means Come, addressed to a woman, and it was the breakthrough single from The Idan Raichel Project's debut album in 2002. Raichel, a keyboard player from Kfar Saba, built the record around Ethiopian Israeli singers and Amharic verses, and this song sets a short Amharic phrase at the head of a Hebrew chorus over a loping, warm groove. The lyric invites the listener to come along without asking where, which is a near perfect brief for a first dance. It is slower than it sounds on first listen, so couples who want a little movement without a formal waltz choose it often. Raichel later performed with Alicia Keys in Tel Aviv and New York.
