Bloom

The Paper Kites are a folk band from Melbourne, and Bloom was their first single, written by Sam Bentley and Christina Lacy and released independently in 2010 as a handmade CD of around five hundred copies. It later appeared as a bonus track on their debut EP Woodland, and through streaming it has since gone platinum in the United States and gold in the UK, becoming a favourite for couples who want something quiet and understated. The lyric is a plea to be close to someone, sung over picked guitar, a soft harmony and a faint banjo, and the slow pace suits a short dance.
