Anchor

Novo Amor is Ali Lacey, a Welsh producer and singer raised in Llanidloes and now based in Cardiff, whose falsetto and layered acoustic arrangements have drawn comparisons with Bon Iver. Anchor was released as a single in October 2015 and later reached a new audience when it was used in the 2019 film Five Feet Apart. The lyric is about holding on to someone through a period of distance and doubt, sung over a slow swell of acoustic instruments. Couples choose it for the hush of the opening and the way it grows without ever becoming loud, which suits a quiet, close first dance. Lacey recorded his debut EP, Woodgate, NY, partly in a converted barn in the Lake District.
